Who
I work for the Future Foundation doing sysadmin stuff, workflows and documentation. We provide secretariat services to industry associations, write software, host online communities and run events.
In my own time I'm a writer and tinkerer. Earlier this year I completed a
project to setup solar-powered wireless mesh telephones in the desert at the
Afrikaburn art festival (Camp Isigidimi) using VillageTelco mesh potatoes.
In the past I put together the first ZaCon (no connection to the current
event of the same name). I'm a founding member of the Cape Linux User Group
(www.clug.org.za) and setup the first Linux exhibitor stand at a commercial
conference in South Africa in 2000, and again in 2001. I'm a long-time
ISOC-ZA member and was previously a committee member. I've also been
involved with internet.org.za for the past decade.
